UAE condemns Houthi missile and drone strikes on Saudi civilian sites

UAE issues strongest condemnation of attacks on Saudi civilian facilities

On 16 September 2026 the United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) issued a forceful condemnation of attacks carried out by the Houthi group against civilian facilities in the Saudi cities of Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif. The statement, released from Abu Dhabi, said the strikes employed ballistic missiles and drones and caused dozens of civilian injuries.

MoFA described the assaults as a flagrant violation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and a threat to its security and stability. The ministry underscored the UAE’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for measures intended to safeguard the kingdom’s security and public safety.

The statement reflects the federal government’s formal diplomatic response to cross‑border attacks that affect civilian populations. By reaffirming support for Riyadh, the UAE reiterated its position that such strikes undermine regional stability and international norms protecting non‑combatants.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not specify any immediate follow‑up measures in the statement, but emphasised the need for collective efforts to deter further attacks on civilian infrastructure.
