Al Jalila Foundation Launches 12th Edition of #PINKtober Campaign

The initiative brings together over 250 partners across the UAE to raise funds, expand treatment access, and support breast cancer research during Awareness Month

Al Jalila Foundation has unveiled the 12th edition of its flagship #PINKtober campaign, a comprehensive initiative designed to mobilise community support for women affected by breast cancer. Coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the campaign aims to generate funds for patient treatment, enhance access to therapeutic interventions, and advance research into the disease.

Operating as a cornerstone of Dubai Health’s strategic vision to advance healthcare through integrated Care, Learning, Discovery, and Giving, the initiative has established itself as a significant community undertaking. The campaign convenes more than 250 partners and supporters alongside residents from across the Emirates in a coordinated effort to raise awareness and provide sustained support to patients and survivors.

A Decade of Impact

Since its inception in 2013, Al Jalila Foundation has demonstrated unwavering commitment to breast cancer patients. The organisation has supported treatment for 1,436 women with breast cancer, accompanying them throughout their therapeutic journeys. Simultaneously, the foundation has invested in 14 research studies investigating early diagnosis methodologies, targeted therapies, and innovative care approaches.

Shamma Al Rafi, Director of Fundraising and Community Engagement Programs at Al Jalila Foundation, emphasised the campaign’s deeper significance: “#PINKtober reflects the values of solidarity and compassion that bring our community together. Each edition represents an opportunity to expand participation in supporting women with breast cancer throughout their treatment journey. Through this campaign, we continue our efforts to provide support to patients and their families, in line with our commitment to Dubai Health’s Patient First promise.”

Comprehensive Community Engagement

The campaign orchestrates participation across diverse sectors including education, food and beverage, hospitality, retail, and sports, complemented by corporate contributions and crowdfunding initiatives. This multifaceted approach underscores the breadth of community commitment to the cause.

Al Jalila Foundation prioritises the emotional and psychosocial wellbeing of cancer patients through Majlis Al Amal, the UAE’s pioneering community centre of its type. This facility creates a nurturing environment where members connect, exchange experiences, and access mutual support. Currently serving 1,508 members, the centre reports that 70 per cent are women with breast cancer or survivors, reflecting the critical importance of holistic, integrated care systems for this demographic, particularly given breast cancer’s prevalence among women globally.
