Central Bank of UAE to Host Second Climate Forum in Abu Dhabi

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the CBUAE will convene financial leaders to strengthen the sector's capacity to address climate risks and support sustainable economic transition.

The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) will host its second Climate Forum on 8th October 2026, bringing together representatives from central banks, regulatory authorities and financial institutions across the region and beyond.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CBUAE, the Forum will serve as a pivotal platform for enhancing the financial sector’s resilience in confronting climate-related risks whilst supporting the transition towards a sustainable economy.

The gathering will facilitate strengthened cooperation and the exchange of expertise in sustainable finance, examining pathways to develop regulatory frameworks and banking practices that equip financial institutions to manage climate risks effectively and advance net-zero ambitions.

Strategic Focus Areas

The second edition will address the strategic implications of climate change across economic sectors, examining transition plans and financing mechanisms alongside the role of public-private partnerships in supporting these critical endeavours. Discussions will also explore sustainable finance priorities, the significance of climate data in shaping financial and regulatory decisions, and the ramifications of climate-related risks for monetary policy and banking supervision.

Complementing the Forum, the CBUAE will inaugurate its Climate Research Seminar on 9th October 2026 in collaboration with the Centre for Economic Transition Expertise at the London School of Economics and Political Science. The Seminar will analyse the latest research on climate, sustainable investment and monetary policy, supporting the development of financial and banking policies whilst strengthening the application of research to address climate challenges.

Together, these initiatives reflect the CBUAE’s commitment to supporting the UAE’s broader climate agenda, embedding sustainability principles throughout the financial sector and reinforcing the sector’s contribution towards achieving the nation’s net-zero targets.
