Victory Team Secures Shanghai Grand Prix Crown and Championship Lead

The Dubai-based outfit claimed the UIM F1H2O World Championship title in Shanghai, with Alec Weckstrom delivering a dominant display to propel Victory Team to the summit of the Teams' Championship standings.
Victory Team has established a commanding position in the UIM F1H2O World Championship after a magnificent performance at the Shanghai Grand Prix on Monday. Alec Weckstrom piloted Victory 3 to victory with an assured display that saw him convert pole position into an authoritative win, elevating the Dubai-based team into outright lead of the Teams’ Championship.
The triumph delivered twenty championship points to Victory Team, moving them to the top of the standings with a total of one hundred points. Team Sharjah currently occupies second position with eighty-four points, whilst Team Abu Dhabi sits third with eighty. Norway’s Strømøy Racing, Finland’s Comparato, China Team, Portugal’s Atlantic Team and France’s Maverick Team complete the field with sixty-three, fifty-seven, forty-three, thirty-one and twenty-one points respectively.
Weckstrom’s victory was matched by an impressive showing from UAE competitors throughout the event, with Team Sharjah drivers Stefan Arand and Grant Trask securing the second and third places on the podium. This result elevated Arand to the pinnacle of the Drivers’ Championship with sixty points, whilst Trask holds second place with fifty-one. Weckstrom’s twenty-point haul has drawn him level with his Victory Team teammate Shaun Torrente, both now positioned third in the drivers’ standings on fifty points each.
Mohammed Hareb, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai International Marine Club, commended the team’s exceptional effort. He highlighted Weckstrom’s commanding weekend performance across practice, qualifying, the sprint race and the grand prix itself, noting that the Shanghai victory represents a crucial stepping stone in Victory Team’s championship pursuit as defending champions.
Khalid bin Dasmal, Board Member of Dubai International Marine Club, emphasised that the victory reflected coordinated excellence across all team departments. He stressed that sustained performance levels will prove essential as the season approaches its conclusion, with the championship remaining competitive and the final round offering opportunity for decisive action.
Weckstrom reflected upon his masterful execution, describing the achievement as a fantastic conclusion to the event. He credited the entire Victory Team for providing the technical excellence and preparation that enabled him to deliver the performance required. The driver acknowledged the significance of the victory within the championship campaign whilst maintaining focus upon the upcoming final round.
The championship will conclude with the final round in Sharjah, scheduled for December eighteenth to twentieth, where both the Drivers’ and Teams’ World Championship titles remain within reach.
