Abu Dhabi to Host Third European Arab Medical Congress

The prestigious congress convenes international medical expertise to advance mental health and rehabilitation across Europe and the MENA region in December 2026.

Abu Dhabi will welcome the third European Arab Medical Congress from 11th to 13th December 2026, an occasion that promises to gather an extraordinary assembly of international medical professionals, eminent researchers and distinguished specialists in psychology, mental health and rehabilitation medicine.

Coinciding with the International Day of People of Determination, this distinguished gathering is orchestrated by the Emirates Scholar Centre for Research and Studies in partnership with the Emirates Medical Association, the European Medical Association and the Emirates Cancer Society. The congress benefits from the steadfast support and participation of the Zayed Authority for People of Determination and the Abu Dhabi Convention & Exhibition Bureau.

Conducted under the compelling theme “Advancing Mental Health & Rehabilitation for Sustainable Wellbeing; Bridging Europe and the MENA Region”, the congress will unfold across eight comprehensive scientific tracks, each addressing pivotal advances in modern medicine, psychological wellbeing and rehabilitation methodologies. These encompass psychiatry, clinical psychology, cognitive behavioural therapy, neurorehabilitation, brain and spinal cord injury management, contemporary neuroscience and sophisticated diagnostic innovations.

The programme will explore the transformative application of artificial intelligence, robotics and virtual reality within treatment and rehabilitation frameworks, whilst offering specialised attention to the distinct needs of children, older adults and People of Determination. Further sessions will illuminate cancer research, patient rehabilitation pathways, palliative care excellence and family-centred approaches that strengthen familial resilience and support those navigating chronic illness.

Sheikh Dr. Salem Bin Rukad Al Ameri, Chairman of the Board of the Emirates Cancer Society, emphasised that cancer care encompasses far more than diagnosis and treatment, extending to rehabilitation, psychological support, palliative provision and comprehensive family empowerment. He underscored the profound value of uniting European and Arab medical expertise to construct integrated care models that honour patient dignity, elevate quality of life and sustain families throughout their therapeutic journey.

Dr. Abdulla Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of Emirates Scholar Centre for Research and Studies, highlighted how the congress will cultivate meaningful cooperation between Europe and the Arab region by synthesising mental health, rehabilitation and family-centred care to develop pragmatic solutions addressing contemporary family requirements.

The congress anticipates attracting more than 1,500 participants, comprising physicians, researchers, academics, specialists and decision-makers, accompanied by more than 100 international speakers. Over 60 scientific papers and panel discussions will be presented, whilst participants will access more than 18 accredited Continuing Medical Education hours.
