National Rehabilitation Centre Advances Mental Health Awareness in Meaningful Campaign

The National Rehabilitation Centre marks World Mental Health Day with an initiative designed to foster understanding, diminish stigma and champion the profound connection between psychological wellbeing and sustained recovery.
The National Rehabilitation Centre has inaugurated a purposeful awareness campaign to commemorate World Mental Health Day, observed on 10th October each year. Positioned under the thoughtful slogan “Mental Health: The Foundation for Recovery,” this initiative represents a significant step towards reshaping perceptions and dismantling the misconceptions that often surround mental health and the pursuit of professional psychological support.
The campaign addresses a crucial societal need: encouraging individuals to recognise when professional intervention becomes necessary and to access the appropriate services without hesitation or apprehension. By addressing the stigma associated with seeking psychological support, the Centre endeavours to create an environment in which individuals and families feel empowered to take decisive action towards recovery and wellbeing.
Central to the campaign’s messaging is an illuminating understanding of the intrinsic relationship between mental wellbeing and addiction recovery. The initiative highlights how psychological stability serves as a protective factor against addiction and as an essential component within comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation programmes. The Centre emphasises that families, communities and specialised organisations collectively bear responsibility for cultivating a supportive ecosystem that facilitates individual recovery and successful reintegration into society.
Yousef Altheeb Alketbi, Chief Executive Officer of the National Rehabilitation Centre, articulated the organisation’s comprehensive approach to addiction treatment, which seamlessly integrates medical and psychological care. Beginning with meticulous diagnostic assessment, this integrated methodology ensures that patient confidentiality and privacy remain paramount throughout the therapeutic journey. Mr Alketbi underscored the Centre’s expanded commitment to mental health, extending beyond treatment to encompass early prevention through initiatives that weave psychological support throughout every stage of care, recognising that mental wellbeing represents an indispensable foundation for cultivating a healthy and sustainable society.
Dr. Mohammed Aljneibi, Head of the Psychiatry Section at the National Rehabilitation Centre, reinforced this holistic perspective by articulating how psychological support constitutes an integral dimension of addiction treatment. Through comprehensive care that honours each individual’s unique circumstances and requirements, the Centre facilitates the restoration of stability and the reinstatement of meaningful everyday functioning. Dr. Aljneibi particularly emphasised the preventative potential of mental health services, recognising that psychological wellbeing not only supports recovery and community reintegration but also serves as a powerful deterrent against the emergence of addiction in the first instance.
