DEWA celebrates Emirati Women's Day with month-long empowerment programme

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority honours over 600 female employees through integrated initiative recognising women's contributions to national development and celebrating authentic Emirati identity.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has marked Emirati Women’s Day through an expansive month-long programme that brought together more than 600 female employees across the organisation’s facilities. Orchestrated by the DEWA Women’s Committee under the banner ‘We Emerge Stronger and Better’, the initiative celebrated women’s empowerment, wellbeing and national pride whilst recognising the contributions of distinguished female staff members to the authority’s achievements.

The comprehensive calendar of events took place across DEWA’s new headquarters at Al Shera’a and branches in Al Ruwayyah, Warsan and Umm Hurair 2, with activities encompassing cultural celebrations, professional development and health initiatives. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, underscored the significance of the extended observance, noting that it reflects the UAE’s profound commitment to women’s advancement—a legacy established by the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and continued under the visionary leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, known as the ‘Mother of the Nation’.

Fatigue Mohammed Al Jokar, Chairperson of DEWA Women’s Committee, highlighted the programme’s multifaceted approach, which blended professional development with cultural pride and personal wellbeing. The initiative included participation in the Emirati Women Forum 2026, organised by the Dubai Women Establishment under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council. Fifteen DEWA employees attended a ‘Leadership amid Challenges’ workshop in cooperation with Hult International Business School, designed to strengthen resilience and effectiveness in evolving workplace environments.

The calendar featured traditional cultural workshops celebrating Emirati heritage, including jewellery-making, pearl and material tray-making, flower arranging and Arabic calligraphy. Complementing these artistic activities were dedicated sessions addressing mental and physical wellbeing, with particular emphasis on enhancing quality of life for Emirati women. The authority also honoured a distinguished cohort of female employees whose integral contributions facilitated the completion of Al Shera’a, DEWA’s landmark new headquarters.
