Eight Nations Unite on Middle East Peace at UN General Assembly
Foreign ministers from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan and Türkiye have issued a joint statement reaffirming their commitment to advancing the Comprehensive Plan for achieving lasting regional peace.
Eight nations have united to reinforce their dedication to implementing a comprehensive peace framework for the Middle East, following ministerial talks held during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on 21 September 2026.
The foreign ministers of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Qatar, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Türkiye, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia convened to discuss progress on critical humanitarian and political matters affecting the region.
Humanitarian Concerns and Implementation Framework
The ministers expressed profound concern regarding the ongoing humanitarian situation in Gaza, calling for the immediate and unobstructed delivery of humanitarian assistance and Early Recovery supplies. They emphasised Israel’s responsibility to fulfil outstanding commitments outlined in the First Phase of the Comprehensive Plan and to ensure the preservation of the ceasefire whilst ending all violations.
The collective leadership underscored that the Road Map provides the essential implementation framework for advancing the Second Phase, encompassing decommissioning, full Israeli withdrawal, deployment of the International Stabilisation Force, and the assumption of governance responsibilities by the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza. They appealed to all parties to honour their respective commitments in good faith and without delay.
Territorial Integrity and Holy Sites
The ministers categorically rejected measures aimed at displacing Palestinian populations or altering the territorial and demographic character of the Occupied Palestinian Territory. They expressed grave concern over illegal settlement expansion, land confiscation, home demolitions, and forced displacement, calling for their immediate reversal and accountability for settler violence.
Additionally, the ministers voiced concern regarding measures that undermine the historical and legal Status Quo of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
International Support and Two-State Solution
The statement welcomed recent measures undertaken by the United Kingdom and broader European efforts to address illegal Israeli settlement activity, including trade restrictions and calls for further effective international action.
The ministers reaffirmed that Gaza must remain integral to Palestinian territory and emphasised that implementation of the Comprehensive Plan must facilitate the reunification of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza Strip, advancing a credible pathway towards Palestinian self-determination and the establishment of a sovereign, viable and independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital through the two-State solution.
The ministers commended the leadership of President Donald J. Trump and stressed the indispensable role of the United States in ensuring implementation of the plan, whilst calling for sustained American engagement to overcome obstacles and ensure all parties fulfil their obligations.
