Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Advances UAE Diplomacy at UN General Assembly
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs held extensive bilateral and trilateral meetings in New York, reinforcing the Emirates' commitment to strengthening international partnerships and cooperation.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, conducted a series of strategic meetings during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, underscoring the UAE’s dedication to fostering robust international relations.
The senior Emirati statesman engaged with foreign ministers from France, Bulgaria, Malta, Latvia, Lithuania, Vietnam, and the Marshall Islands, alongside the Grand Chancellor of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. These discussions centred on expanding bilateral cooperation across economic, trade, and investment sectors, whilst addressing shared priorities including food security, advanced technology, culture, education and health.
The meetings reflected the UAE’s forward-looking approach to global challenges, with particular emphasis on artificial intelligence, renewable energy and climate action. His Highness reiterated the Emirates’ unwavering commitment to building effective partnerships with nations worldwide and fostering coordination to support international efforts in achieving peace, stability and sustainable development.
A significant focus of the discussions involved the UAE’s forthcoming stewardship of the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, scheduled for December 8th to 10th in partnership with the Republic of Senegal. The ministers explored strategies to strengthen international efforts towards water security and develop innovative solutions to water-related challenges facing the global community.
Demonstrating the UAE’s multifaceted diplomatic engagement, His Highness chaired a trilateral meeting with the Foreign Ministers of France and India, convening within the established framework of UAE-France-India trilateral cooperation. This discussion advanced the collective agenda across multiple sectors aligned with the development priorities of all three nations, with ministers exchanging perspectives on contemporary regional and international developments.
The diplomatic missions highlighted the importance of strengthening multilateral action and cooperation within international organisations to advance global peace, security and sustainable development objectives. Alongside His Highness, the delegations included Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade; Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State; and Saeed Al Hajeri, Minister of State.
