ICESCO and University of Al Dhaid Chart Course for Strategic Partnership
The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's Sharjah office and the University of Al Dhaid have identified promising avenues for collaborative advancement in research, innovation and sustainable development.
A significant dialogue has unfolded between the Regional Office of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in Sharjah and the University of Al Dhaid, as both institutions explore the foundations for a substantive long-term partnership.
The discussions took place during an official visit by a University of Al Dhaid delegation led by Aisha Ahmed Bushlaibi, Chancellor of the institution. Salem Omar, Director of the ICESCO Regional Office in Sharjah, welcomed the delegation and facilitated an extensive exchange with his office team.
The visit provided an opportunity for the University delegation to gain comprehensive insight into ICESCO’s programmes, initiatives and the organisation’s pivotal role in advancing its educational and cultural mission across the Islamic world. Both parties engaged in substantive dialogue to identify practical areas of cooperation and chart pathways towards establishing a robust strategic framework.
Potential collaboration encompasses several fields of contemporary significance. The two institutions discussed launching joint programmes and research initiatives centred on scientific innovation, entrepreneurship development and capacity building. Notably, both parties recognised the importance of aligning academic research more closely with community needs and regional challenges.
Particular emphasis emerged around cooperation in agriculture, environmental sustainability, food security and artificial intelligence—domains where integrated expertise and resources could yield meaningful outcomes. ICESCO’s extensive regional and international network is positioned to amplify the impact of such collaborative endeavours.
Salem Omar expressed the regional office’s commitment to broadening its partnership portfolio with academic and research institutions across the region. He underscored the strategic value of strengthening institutional linkages and fostering meaningful exchange of expertise and knowledge amongst universities and research organisations.
Chancellor Bushlaibi articulated the University of Al Dhaid’s strategic vision, emphasising its dedication to cultivating partnerships with leading scientific and educational institutions. She identified cooperation with ICESCO as instrumental in supporting initiatives spanning agriculture, environmental stewardship, food security, veterinary medicine, artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship—fields where combined effort could advance scientific discovery, foster innovation and strengthen service to communities.
The dialogue reflects broader commitments within the United Arab Emirates to positioning its educational institutions at the forefront of regional and international academic collaboration, whilst addressing pressing contemporary challenges through rigorous scientific inquiry and practical innovation.
