Mohammed Bin Rashid Library Unveils October Programme Celebrating Translation, Andalusian Heritage and Inclusive Access

The prestigious library marks International Translation Day whilst exploring cultural manuscripts and expanding accessibility initiatives for visitors of all abilities.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library has announced an intellectually enriching cultural calendar for October, comprising a carefully curated selection of programmes designed to celebrate knowledge, linguistic artistry and inclusive cultural engagement.
The month’s offerings commence with a scholarly panel commemorating International Translation Day, an occasion devoted to exploring the sophisticated discipline of audiovisual translation. The discussion will examine the intricate interplay between visual and verbal narratives, whilst investigating the essential role translators fulfil in crafting experiences that transcend linguistic boundaries and foster genuine cross-cultural understanding.
Building upon this theme, the Library will present an illuminating exhibition entitled “Andalusian Manuscripts: Contemporary Relevance and Civilisational Significance,” positioning medieval Islamic scholarly achievements within contemporary intellectual discourse. This presentation will be complemented by an evening of distinguished musical performance, during which the accomplished Arab Choir will present Muwashahat—the refined poetic-musical form that flourished throughout the Andalusian period.
In a significant institutional milestone, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library will participate for the inaugural time in the eighth AccessAbilities Expo 2026, to be held at Dubai World Trade Centre from 19th to 21st October. Through this participation, the Library will demonstrate its comprehensive services and progressive initiatives specifically designed to ensure that people of determination enjoy full access to cultural and knowledge resources. This commitment reflects the institution’s dedication to creating inclusive spaces where all members of the community may engage meaningfully with the world’s intellectual heritage.
The October programme exemplifies the Library’s role as a cultural ambassador, advancing understanding of the Islamic civilisational legacy whilst championing accessibility and linguistic artistry within the Emirate’s vibrant knowledge ecosystem.
