Patrick Reed Confirmed for DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates
The American major champion, who has led the Race to Dubai Rankings for seven months, targets the Harry Vardon Trophy at November's season finale in Dubai.
Patrick Reed has confirmed his participation in the DP World Tour Championship, which will take place from 12th to 15th November at Jumeirah Golf Estates. The accomplished American seeks to convert his extended tenure atop the Race to Dubai Rankings into the prestigious Harry Vardon Trophy.
The 36-year-old has occupied the summit of the rankings for more than seven months, having ascended to the position in February following a commanding start to the calendar year. His season commenced with particular distinction in January, when a measured four-shot triumph at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic—a Rolex Series event—yielded his fourth DP World Tour title. A fortnight thereafter, the 2018 Masters champion secured his fifth DP World Tour victory through a two-stroke victory at the Qatar Masters.
Reed, currently World Number 29, stands on the threshold of becoming only the second American to be crowned European Number One, following Collin Morikawa’s achievement in 2021. Notably, Morikawa also became the first American to capture the DP World Tour Championship title.
The forthcoming championship will represent Reed’s eighth appearance at this prestigious event. Speaking of his prospects, Reed reflected upon his Dubai successes: “Dubai is where the season really got going for me, so it would be pretty cool to finish it there with the Harry Vardon Trophy. I’ve played the DP World Tour Championship a bunch of times over the years, so I know the golf course pretty well and what it takes to get it done there. There are some really good players behind me, and that’s what makes the DP World Tour so competitive.”
The American faces formidable competition as the season reaches its climax. Rory McIlroy, a three-time DP World Tour Championship winner, pursues the leader and seeks an eighth Race to Dubai crown to equalise Colin Montgomerie’s record. McIlroy successfully defended his Masters title in April. Eugenio Chacarra, Aaron Rai—the 2026 US PGA Championship winner—and Open Champion Ryan Fox round out the top five positions, promising an enthralling conclusion to the season at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
