UAE Secures Silver in Men’s Team Bowling at Asia-Pacific Deaf Games

The UAE deaf sports contingent claimed a commendable silver medal in the men's team bowling competition at the 2026 Asia-Pacific Deaf Games in Penang, finishing narrowly behind South Korea.
The UAE deaf sports team has secured the silver medal in the men’s team bowling event at the 2026 Asia-Pacific Deaf Games, held in Penang, Malaysia. The UAE finished as runners-up with 4,785 points, a narrow margin of just 63 points behind gold medallists South Korea, who accumulated 4,848 points. Bahrain completed the podium with the bronze medal, registering 4,407 points.
The competition unfolded across two stages, with the UAE demonstrating considerable strength in the opening round. The Emirati team established a commanding lead with 2,461 points against South Korea’s 2,380. However, the Koreans demonstrated exceptional resilience and technical prowess, overturning the deficit in the second stage to ultimately claim the gold medal.
The six-member UAE squad featured Ayman Al Maqbali, Tariq Shehab, Mohammed Al Eisai, Waleed Radwan, Adnan Al Jabri and Matar Al Rumaithi. Al Maqbali emerged as the team’s leading scorer, accumulating 1,303 points, whilst Shehab contributed 1,235 points. Al Eisai added 1,139 points to the team total, and Radwan contributed 1,108 points to the UAE’s strong overall performance.
This silver medal represents the second bowling medal for the UAE at the Games, following Al Maqbali’s bronze achievement in the men’s singles event. UAE coach Shaker Ali commended the team’s commendable efforts, highlighting their dedication during preparation and their cohesive teamwork throughout the competition. Coach Ali noted that the gold medal was determined by an exceptionally narrow margin, underscoring the competitive calibre of the event and the UAE team’s competitive standing amongst Asia-Pacific’s elite deaf bowling athletes.
