Ras Al Khaimah Deepens Ties with China Following Ruler's Strategic Visit

H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi receives the Chinese Ambassador and Consul-General to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation and recent provincial agreements.

The palace in Saqr bin Mohammed City became the setting for an important diplomatic exchange as H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, received Zeng Jixin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the United Arab Emirates, alongside Ou Boqian, Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

The meeting reflected the growing momentum of relations between Ras Al Khaimah and China, building on His Highness’s recent working visit to China, during which he led a comprehensive delegation through Guangdong and Fujian provinces. The discussions centred on a friendship agreement that has recently been formalised between Ras Al Khaimah and Fujian Province, whilst exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation with Guangdong Province.

The conversation extended across the breadth of potential collaboration, with both sides examining opportunities to strengthen ties in various fields and exchanging perspectives on matters of mutual concern. Ambassador Zeng Jixin and Consul-General Ou Boqian conveyed their appreciation for His Highness’s warm reception, whilst commending the robust relations between the United Arab Emirates and China and acknowledging the multifaceted development taking place across Ras Al Khaimah.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

This diplomatic engagement reinforces the UAE’s broader strategic partnership with China, demonstrating how individual emirates are actively advancing bilateral relationships in tandem with national policy. The formalisation of agreements between Ras Al Khaimah and Chinese provinces signals the federation’s commitment to deepening economic, cultural and institutional ties with one of the world’s most significant powers.

For Abu Dhabi and the emirates collectively, these provincial partnerships create pathways for expanded trade, investment and knowledge exchange across multiple sectors, enhancing the UAE’s position as a hub for international cooperation and regional development.
