The emirate welcomes policymakers and innovators from across the region and beyond for three days of intensive dialogue on energy security, renewable technologies and economic competitiveness.
The RAK Energy Summit 2026 will gather regional and international decision-makers at RAK Expo Centre from 25th to 27th November, creating an essential forum for dialogue on energy security, sustainability and competitiveness across the Gulf Cooperation Council region. Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, the summit carries the theme “Create and Contribute to the Sustainable Energy Goals of the Future”, reflecting the emirate’s commitment to advancing the region’s energy transition.
Ras Al Khaimah Municipality hosts the summit in partnership with Etihad Water & Electricity (EtihadWE), supported by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD), alongside 19 local government entities. This collaborative structure underscores the significance the UAE places on coordinated action across energy, sustainability and economic development, much as we reported when Abu Dhabi hosted ADIPEC 2026 to convene the world’s energy leadership.
The expanded three-day programme will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, fireside chats and specialised forums spanning energy and water security, renewable energy and storage, natural hydrogen, industrial decarbonisation, sustainable transport, green finance, emissions reporting, sustainable urban development and communities. The summit seeks to strengthen integration between government policies, industrial applications and emerging technologies whilst exploring investment and partnership opportunities that will support the region’s energy transition and sustainable economic development.
Munther Mohammed bin Shekar, Director-General of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, described the summit as an important platform for policymakers, industry leaders, innovators and experts to exchange ideas, build partnerships and accelerate practical action towards secure, competitive and sustainable energy systems. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, CEO of EtihadWE, emphasised that reliable and efficient water and electricity infrastructure remains fundamental to economic growth, industrial competitiveness and quality of life, noting that EtihadWE continues to modernise its networks and deploy smart technologies to strengthen water and energy security across the Northern Emirates.
Participating international organisations include the International Energy Agency (IEA), IRENA, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Delegation of the European Union to the UAE and the International Association of Public Transport (UITP). Regional participants include GORD, the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) and the GCC Interconnection Authority (GCCIA), alongside government entities, companies and organisations from the energy, industry, banking, real estate, transport and environmental sectors. As the World Green Economy Summit demonstrated, convening such diverse expertise creates momentum for practical solutions across the green economy transition.
What it means for Abu Dhabi
The RAK Energy Summit reinforces the UAE’s leadership in shaping the regional energy agenda. With Abu Dhabi’s institutions including the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and the Environment Agency playing active roles in this gathering, the emirate continues to drive the strategic conversations that will define the region’s energy security and competitiveness for years to come.
For Abu Dhabi’s energy, industrial and environmental sectors, the summit offers a crucial opportunity to engage with international best practice, explore emerging technologies like natural hydrogen and industrial decarbonisation, and identify partnership and investment opportunities that will support the emirate’s own sustainable economic development alongside the broader Gulf region.
