World Green Economy Summit 2026 Convenes to Scale Sustainable Energy Infrastructure

World Green Economy Summit 2026 Convenes to Scale Sustainable Energy Infrastructure

Dubai hosts the 12th World Green Economy Summit this October, bringing together global leaders to explore how clean energy infrastructure, emerging technologies and innovative financing can accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Under the distinguished patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai will host the 12th World Green Economy Summit on 21st and 22nd October 2026 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event, organised by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO), convenes under the theme ‘From Success to Scale: Showcasing the Green Economy’.

The summit addresses four principal thematic pillars: Energy Technology & Infrastructure, Business Strategy & Transition, Water & Food Security and Finance. These are complemented by three cross-cutting themes encompassing Artificial Intelligence, Governance and System Enablers. The Energy Technology & Infrastructure pillar examines the rapid deployment of clean power at scale, the strengthening of renewable energy systems through energy storage, and the contribution of emerging technologies—including green hydrogen and nuclear energy—to the diversified, low-carbon energy mix essential for global sustainability.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Chief Executive of DEWA, emphasised that the summit provides a critical platform for advancing practical, measurable outcomes in energy transformation. He highlighted how digitalisation and disruptive technologies are reshaping global energy systems and enabling renewable infrastructure deployment, with the summit facilitating expertise exchange, partnership expansion and investment acceleration towards sustainable development goals.

Distinguished speakers contributing to the summit programme include Najib Saab, Secretary General of the Arab Forum for Environment & Development, who notes that energy security considerations increasingly drive renewable energy transitions across regions. Arshad Mansoor, President and CEO of the Electric Power Research Institute, emphasised that economic prosperity and environmental protection constitute integrated objectives rather than competing priorities, requiring comprehensive solutions that balance abundant, affordable electricity provision with carbon emission reduction and environmental protection.

Mazin Khan, Chief Financial Officer of Masdar, highlighted the necessity for innovative financing mechanisms alongside technological advancement, advocating for combined public and private investment to strengthen investor confidence and accelerate project implementation. Angela Homsi, founder and President of Ignite Power, underscored that green economy transition has evolved beyond environmental imperative to represent strategic economic opportunity, particularly across emerging markets.

The forum brings together decision-makers, officials and experts to deliberate innovative solutions ensuring both sustainability achievement and grid reliability. Contributions from industry leaders in utilities, financial services and sustainable infrastructure development underscore the collaborative, multi-sectoral approach required to transition from strategic ambition to scalable, practical implementation across global energy systems.
