Sharjah Chamber Prepares Sixth Edition of Al Dhaid Date Festival
The prestigious agricultural celebration returns to Expo Al Dhaid this October, uniting producers, farmers and retailers to showcase Emirati date excellence and advance national food security.
The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry is preparing to launch the sixth edition of the Al Dhaid Date Festival, welcoming date producers, retailers, farmers and palm owners from across the Emirates to Expo Al Dhaid from 8 to 11 October. The festival serves as a cornerstone celebration of the date palm tree whilst reinforcing the market presence and promotion of premium Emirati dates within the region.
The forthcoming edition will feature participation from leading date-palm growers, agricultural experts, established agricultural companies, government entities, productive families and home-based businesses engaged in date cultivation. This diverse gathering provides a comprehensive platform for knowledge exchange, business engagement and the strengthening of connections across the agricultural value chain.
Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI, underscored the festival’s significance as an economic driver for Sharjah’s eastern and central regions. He emphasised that the event reflects the Chamber’s commitment to developing the agricultural sector and enhancing its vital contribution to the nation’s sustainable food security framework.
“The festival provides farmers, agricultural project owners and productive families with direct access to consumers and traders, creating meaningful opportunities to elevate the value and market potential of locally produced dates,” Al Awadi remarked.
Mohammed Musabeh Al Tunaiji, General Coordinator of the Al Dhaid Date Festival, confirmed that operational planning for the sixth edition has been finalised, building upon the considerable success of previous years. The sustained attendance and growing participation from palm owners throughout the UAE have reinforced the festival’s role in equipping the agricultural community with practical expertise in organic farming, sustainability practices and contemporary agricultural technologies.
This year’s comprehensive programme encompasses premium date auctions with significant prizes for winners, a dedicated dates market featuring the finest varieties, and specialist workshops led by agricultural experts focusing on modern cultivation techniques and date-palm husbandry. The celebration will be enhanced by cultural and artistic presentations, including traditional folkloric performances that honour Emirati heritage.
The festival provides an invaluable platform for local sellers to promote dates and date-based products, whilst facilitating expertise exchange between farmers and agricultural specialists. Visitors will discover a curated selection of premium and commercial date varieties, reflecting the richness of the Emirates’ date-palm heritage and the exceptional diversity of its agricultural produce.
