1 Billion Followers Summit Unveils Fifth Edition with Record Speakers and Enhanced Agenda

The world's premier gathering for content creators announces its most ambitious edition yet, featuring over 400 speakers with a combined following exceeding 4 billion people, expanded partnerships with major global platforms, and new initiatives including a $1 million AI Film Award.
The 1 Billion Followers Summit, the world’s preeminent event dedicated to advancing the creator economy, has unveiled comprehensive details for its fifth edition, to be held from 8th to 10th January 2027 across three distinguished Dubai venues: Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai International Financial Centre and the Museum of the Future. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, this edition carries the thematic focus of ‘Content for Good’.
The announcement follows preparatory meetings convened by the UAE Government Media Office, during which senior figures including Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, confirmed the Summit’s expanded scope and reinforced the Emirates’ position as the definitive global hub for digital content creation. The fifth edition represents a significant evolution, with speaker participation reaching unprecedented levels and encompassing the broadest international representation in the event’s history.
Landmark Partnerships and Prize Initiatives
The Summit has secured strategic partnerships with the world’s leading digital platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Meta, X and Snapchat, each of whom will establish dedicated spaces for interactive engagement and knowledge-sharing with attendees. These collaborations underscore international recognition of the UAE’s comprehensive ecosystem supporting content creators and digital enterprises.
A centrepiece of the fifth edition is the second iteration of the world’s largest AI Film Award, valued at $1 million and developed in partnership with BytePlus, the enterprise technology division of ByteDance. The award encompasses seven thematic categories spanning scientific discovery, historical narratives, cultural traditions, human innovation and exploration, inviting filmmakers globally to harness advanced video-generation AI capabilities in their creative practice.
Complementing this flagship award, the Summit will host the #1MillionStories competition in collaboration with TikTok, offering a $100,000 prize for participants sharing stories of how particular films or television series have shaped their lives. The initiative encourages creative expression through short-form video submissions, with judging criteria emphasising storytelling craft, creative innovation and authentic impact.
Expanded Programming and Creator Support
The fifth edition introduces the Instagram Creators Day, a full-day programme curated by Instagram itself, bringing together prominent content creators, industry leadership and platform representatives to explore emerging trends, community-building strategies and sustainable business practices within the creator economy.
The Creators Market returns for its second year, providing 100 content-led small and medium enterprises with a dedicated pavilion within the Summit to demonstrate their offerings, establish commercial partnerships and access strategic support for market establishment in the UAE. Additionally, the Creators Brand Village, developed in partnership with Alfan, offers creators direct engagement pathways with brand partners and earning opportunities throughout the event.
Speaking at the announcement, Saeed Al Eter, Chairman of the UAE Government Media Office and Chief Executive of the 1 Billion Followers Summit, emphasised that content creators wield substantial influence in shaping public consciousness and societal values, an influence requiring corresponding responsibility. He highlighted how the UAE has systematically established itself as a comprehensive destination for digital content creation, transforming the sector from individual creative pursuit into an integrated economic ecosystem attracting international investment and talent.
The UAE’s commitment encompasses substantial structural support, including the AED 150 million Content Creators Support Fund, the Creators HQ facility (which has enrolled 5,000 registered members from 130 countries commanding a combined audience exceeding 5 billion followers) and the AED 50 million Creators Ventures Accelerator. The nation currently hosts 15,000 licensed content creators representing more than 90 nationalities.
