UAE General Budget Committee Charts Course for 2027–2029 Federal Budget Strategy

Senior leadership convenes to shape medium-term fiscal planning, emphasising artificial intelligence integration and sustainable economic growth across the federation.
The UAE General Budget Committee has concluded its 15th meeting, focusing on the draft federal budget framework for the 2027–2029 fiscal cycle. The gathering at Qasr Al Watan brought together His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, alongside H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
The committee’s deliberations encompassed the draft budget for fiscal year 2027, underpinned by preliminary expenditure projections and revenue forecasts aligned with the medium-term planning framework. These discussions built upon coordination between the Ministry of Finance and federal entities, operating within the parameters of Federal Decree-Law No. (26) of 2019 on Public Finance, as amended, and reflecting updated tax legislation provisions.
Financial indicators presented to the committee demonstrate resilient economic momentum, with significant advances recorded across diverse sectors of the UAE economy, notwithstanding prevailing regional and international circumstances. The committee reviewed the federal government’s financial position for 2026, examining actual expenditure and revenue data accumulated to date, and considered requests from federal entities seeking funding allocation for strategic initiatives.
Artificial Intelligence and Fiscal Innovation
A defining feature of the emerging budget cycle concerns the integration of artificial intelligence to elevate planning capabilities and financial data analysis. The strategy prioritises streamlining administrative procedures, reducing compliance burdens and enhancing fiscal efficiency throughout the federal government apparatus.
The committee directed officials to complete necessary preparatory procedures for the 2027–2029 budget cycle, whilst also reviewing progress on approved capital and development projects completed during the current year in accordance with established financial protocols.
Through its Strategic Plan 2027–2029, the Ministry of Finance aspires to strengthen public finance as a strategic mechanism supporting sustainable development, improving governmental efficiency, and reinforcing quality of life as a national priority. The approach underscores the UAE Government’s commitment to proactive engagement, future readiness and strategic planning as cornerstones of governmental excellence.
The committee acknowledged the Ministry of Finance’s considerable efforts and measures undertaken to advance the draft federal budget for the forthcoming cycle. The UAE Cabinet had previously approved the federal general budget for 2026, with estimated total revenues and expenditures of AED92.4 billion, maintaining the foundational principle of equilibrium between total financial resources and overall public expenditure.
