Sharjah Enhances Port and Border Operations Through Strategic Coordination

Senior officials from Sharjah's ports and border authorities convened to strengthen cross-agency integration and operational efficiency across the emirate's vital gateways.
The Organisational Committee of Ports and Border Points in Sharjah held its ninth meeting of 2026 at Khatmat Malaha Border, bringing together representatives from government and security entities to advance the emirate’s critical infrastructure.
Chaired by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi, Director of Ports and Border Points Affairs at the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, the gathering focused on strengthening coordination among stakeholders responsible for managing passenger and commercial traffic flows across Sharjah’s facilities.
Strategic Vision for Integrated Operations
Mr Al Raisi emphasised the necessity for unified effort in developing Sharjah’s ports and border infrastructure. He highlighted that these facilities function as essential gateways not merely for the emirate but for the broader United Arab Emirates, requiring continuous operational refinement to accommodate expanding traffic volumes.
“Ports and border points serve as vital gateways for both Sharjah and the UAE,” Mr Al Raisi stated. “Continued growth in passenger and commercial traffic places a responsibility on the entities operating at these facilities to continue developing their operational systems, improve procedural efficiency and strengthen coordination and integration. These efforts are essential to balancing smooth movement with faster processing while maintaining the highest standards of security, oversight and safety.”
Operational Priorities and Security Enhancement
The meeting examined multiple dimensions of operational excellence, including the refinement of inspection procedures, enhancement of checkpoint efficiency, and fortification of security protocols. Officials reviewed recent developments across Sharjah’s ports and border points, whilst discussing implementation of recommendations from previous sessions.
Emphasis was placed upon maintaining robust field coordination and facilitating information exchange amongst relevant entities, enabling swift responses to evolving operational requirements. This collaborative approach seeks to optimise the readiness of ports and border facilities whilst delivering streamlined procedures for travellers without compromising security standards.
The committee’s deliberations underscore Sharjah’s commitment to positioning its ports and borders as models of modern, secure and efficient operations that support both the emirate’s economic aspirations and the UAE’s broader development objectives.
