Sharjah’s Crown Prince Leads Nation in Solemn Affirmation of Flag Day Spirit

Sharjah's Crown Prince Leads Nation in Solemn Affirmation of Flag Day Spirit

H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi presides over the ceremonial raising of the UAE flag at the Sharjah Ruler's Office, marking the annual observance that renews the nation's commitment to unity and progress.

The morning light caught the unfurling folds of the UAE flag as it rose above the Sharjah Ruler’s Office on Tuesday, the moment itself a quiet but profound gesture of national remembrance. H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, stood in ceremonial attendance alongside H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, to mark Flag Day, the annual occasion observed on 3rd November that binds the nation in collective purpose.

The Crown Prince spoke of Flag Day as far more than ceremony. It is, he affirmed, a national occasion that renews loyalty and belonging to the homeland, a moment when pride in the UAE is strengthened and the commitment to keeping its flag flying high is reinforced as a symbol of the nation’s dignity, standing and achievements. His words carried the weight of continuity: the UAE flag remains a testament to the efforts and dedicated contributions of the nation’s people, whose achievements help raise the country’s flag high at local and international forums.

At eleven o’clock, as officers and cadets of the Sharjah Academy of Police Sciences stood in formation, the Crown Prince signalled the commencement of the formal flag-raising. The military band played the national anthem as the colours ascended into the sky, the music and movement crystallising in a single moment what the day represents: the spirit of national cohesion and unity that strengthens cooperation and solidarity among all members of society, and renews the determination to continue the journey of development and nation-building.

The occasion was attended by members of Sharjah’s Executive Council, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Finance Department; Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority; and Sheikh Dr Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler’s Office, among others. Their presence underscored the gravity with which the emirate’s leadership views this annual affirmation of national values.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

Flag Day speaks to a broader conversation within the UAE about the foundations upon which the nation was built: unity, shared purpose and an unwavering commitment to progress. The ceremony in Sharjah reflects values that resonate across all seven emirates, a collective remembrance that transcends emirate boundaries to affirm the principles that bind the federation together.

The ceremonial observance also underscores the role of security institutions in the nation’s fabric. The participation of the Sharjah Academy of Police Sciences, as we have previously reported in our coverage of the Crown Prince’s championing of virtual training revolution at the Police Sciences Academy, demonstrates how these organisations embody the values of service and dedication that Flag Day celebrates. It is a reminder that national achievement is built upon the sustained commitment of those who serve the state and its people.
