Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed advances UAE diplomatic agenda at UN General Assembly
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs holds strategic bilateral meetings in New York, reaffirming the Emirates' commitment to multilateral cooperation and sustainable development.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, has undertaken a series of significant diplomatic engagements in New York during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, meeting with foreign ministers from Greece, Singapore, Trinidad and Tobago, and Sri Lanka.
The bilateral discussions, held during UNGA81, centred on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across a comprehensive range of sectors vital to contemporary global development. Economic partnerships, trade and investment frameworks, cultural exchange, tourism development, energy initiatives and artificial intelligence innovation featured prominently in the conversations, with particular emphasis on advancing shared prosperity and mutual interests.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah underscored the UAE’s steadfast commitment to multilateral action and international partnerships as essential mechanisms for promoting development and fulfilling the aspirations of nations for stability and sustainable economic growth. The meetings also encompassed a broader discussion of current regional and international developments, alongside consideration of priority matters before the United Nations General Assembly.
A significant element of the diplomatic agenda involved advancing preparations for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, which the UAE will co-host alongside the Republic of Senegal from 8th to 10th December. The ministers explored international collaborative efforts directed towards promoting innovation and leveraging advanced technologies to address pressing water challenges, enhance water security and accelerate sustainable development across the global community.
The high-level meetings were supported by a distinguished delegation including Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State; Saeed Al Hajeri, Minister of State; Ambassador Mohamed Abushahab, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations; and Omar Shehadeh, Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Caribbean and Pacific States.
