The Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region met with the Chairman of the National Anti-Narcotics Authority to discuss counter-narcotics strategies and the flourishing Arabian horse sector across the emirate.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, received Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National Anti-Narcotics Authority and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society, at Al Nakheel Palace in Abu Dhabi.

During the comprehensive meeting, His Highness was briefed on the multifaceted operations of the National Anti-Narcotics Authority, encompassing its strategic framework for strengthening the nation’s prevention and counter-narcotics capabilities. A significant focus centred on the Authority’s legislative developments, policy refinements, and extensive awareness campaigns targeting diverse segments of society. Particular attention was drawn to the innovative “Hisn” service, a pioneering support system that merges preventive guidance with therapeutic intervention. Through secure channels, this initiative enables families and individuals to seek counsel when concerning warning signs emerge, thereby reinforcing the family unit as a protective force whilst maintaining confidentiality and facilitating seamless pathways to treatment and rehabilitation.

His Highness commended the Authority’s steadfast commitment to safeguarding societal security and public welfare. He emphasised that effectively addressing the drug threat represents a shared national endeavour requiring coordinated action across families, educational institutions, community organisations and individuals.

Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad expressed profound gratitude for the continued support extended by the Ruler’s Representative, reflecting the leadership’s dedication to equipping the Agency with necessary resources to fulfil its strategic objectives of protecting society and securing future generations.

The discussion also encompassed significant developments within the Arabian horse sector. His Highness received detailed briefings on horse and owner registration statistics and the expansion of Arabian horse activities and events throughout the Al Dhafra Region. The Emirates Arabian Horse Society presented comprehensive data illustrating sectoral development, including registration indicators and regional activities spanning from the inaugural Al Dhafra Arabian Horse Championship in 2021 through its most recent 2025 edition, showcasing the substantial growth of this culturally significant industry.
