Sheikh Maktoum Visits UN Crime Prevention Congress Exhibition at ADNEC
The First Deputy Ruler of Dubai toured innovative displays showcasing the UAE's advancement in security, justice systems and digital technologies at the 15th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, visited the exhibition accompanying the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi on 29th September.
The visiting dignitary emphasised that hosting the congress reflects the nation’s unwavering commitment to fostering international cooperation and strengthening collaborative efforts to combat crime, promote security, protect communities and uphold the rule of law. He highlighted how the UAE’s participation demonstrates the country’s remarkable progress in advancing its security and justice systems whilst harnessing cutting-edge technologies, artificial intelligence and innovation to enhance governmental efficiency and service delivery.
Sheikh Maktoum observed that these initiatives strengthen the UAE’s capacity to address emerging challenges arising from rapid technological advancement and evolving security risks.
The congress, which continues until 1st October, operates under the theme ‘Accelerating Crime Prevention, Criminal Justice and the Rule of Law: Protecting People and Planet and Achieving the 2030 Agenda in the Digital Age’. The distinguished event draws participation from 118 countries, encompassing 32 justice and interior ministers alongside senior officials, judges, prosecutors, experts and representatives from governmental bodies, international organisations, the private sector, civil society and academia.
During his tour, the First Deputy Ruler examined several national pavilions displaying innovations utilising advanced technologies and artificial intelligence designed to strengthen justice systems, safeguard communities and promote responsible technology deployment in law enforcement and judicial processes.
His Highness visited the pavilions of the Ministries of Interior, Justice and Cabinet Affairs, where he reviewed digital services, innovative solutions and initiatives supporting a secure digital environment throughout the UAE. He also received briefings on the National Committee for Anti-Money Laundering, Combating the Financing of Terrorism and Proliferation Financing, learning of its programmes and the launch of the UAE’s third National Risk Assessment. This assessment aims to deepen understanding of emerging risks whilst strengthening national policies and protective measures.
Sheikh Maktoum further reviewed the UAE Cybersecurity Council’s endeavours to reinforce cooperation and knowledge sharing in cybersecurity and emerging technologies, whilst addressing evolving technology-related threats.
The exhibition comprises 38 pavilions, offering a comprehensive platform for exchanging expertise, showcasing innovative solutions and fostering international partnerships. The delegation accompanying the First Deputy Ruler included Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, Minister of Justice; Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs; Counsellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan, Attorney-General of Dubai; Judge Abdul Qader Mousa Mohammed, Head of the Court of Cassation; and Dr. Abdullah Saif Al Sabousi, Secretary-General of the Dubai Judicial Council.
