Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Inaugurates Seventh Edition of Arab Hope Makers Initiative
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has launched the latest edition of the region's most expansive philanthropic recognition programme, celebrating those who dedicate themselves to humanitarian endeavour and community transformation across the Arab world.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has inaugurated the seventh edition of the Arab Hope Makers initiative, affirming that the cultivation of hope represents the most noble and invaluable investment in the present and future of human societies. In launching this momentous occasion, His Highness emphasised that the United Arab Emirates shall perpetually remain a nation devoted to virtuous action and steadfast optimism, serving as a beacon of positive transformation throughout the region and beyond.
The Hope Makers initiative, which stands as the most comprehensive undertaking of its genre throughout the Arab world, exists to celebrate philanthropists and recognise their exceptional charitable, social and humanitarian contributions towards enriching their communities, supporting those in need, and engendering meaningful positive impact through the dedicated application of their resources and capabilities.
His Highness stated, “Nurturing hope is a triumph for life itself. The hope we cultivate today will yield prosperity, peace and safety in people’s lives tomorrow.” He further expressed profound pride in those who endeavour to transform their circumstances through the power of goodness, encouraging both potential applicants and members of the public to participate in the nomination process via arabhopemakers.com.
Reflecting upon the significance of Hope Makers as extraordinary role models, His Highness observed, “The story of human civilisation began with hope. Our societies will thrive as long as we remain capable of inspiring hope. Hope Makers serve as extraordinary role models who have turned simple acts of goodness into a daily practice and a shared culture.”
Mohammad Al Gergawi, Secretary-General of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, emphasised that the programme draws its inspiration from the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, advancing his mission to disseminate optimism, counter despair, and celebrate individuals of exceptional character who give selflessly to their communities without expectation of personal reward. Since its inception in 2017, the initiative has catalysed significant humanitarian action and volunteering endeavours throughout the Arab world, fostering confidence in emerging generations and their capacity to advance their societies towards a prosperous future.
The seventh edition welcomes applications from individuals, volunteering groups and non-profit organisations whose endeavours drive meaningful change within their communities. The distinguished winner shall receive a prize valued at AED1 million, with applications accepted through http://www.arabhopemakers.com. The initiative seeks individuals and organisations across the Arab world whose impactful projects, programmes, campaigns or creative initiatives have demonstrably improved lives, alleviated suffering, fostered community development, or addressed local challenges on an entirely voluntary, non-profit foundation.
The sixth edition of the initiative brought together over 15,800 Hope Makers, bringing the cumulative total of participants across six editions to more than 335,000. Previous winners have included Fouzia Jbara Mahmoudi from Morocco, whose Operation Smile foundation has dedicated itself to assisting children born with cleft lips and palates, having successfully performed more than 19,000 surgeries. The initiative continues to amplify these extraordinary narratives and honour those whose contributions exemplify the transformative potential of human compassion and dedication.
