UAE Chambers strengthens economic ties with Belgium through strategic trade mission

A delegation led by senior chamber officials has concluded a productive visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, establishing new frameworks for bilateral commerce and exploring opportunities across logistics, trade and investment sectors.

The Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry has concluded a comprehensive trade mission to Belgium, reinforcing economic partnerships between the two nations and opening fresh avenues for private-sector collaboration.

Led by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Vice Chairman of the Federation and Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the delegation brought together representatives from UAE chambers and the broader Emirati business community to cultivate stronger ties with Belgian counterparts.

The mission addressed several strategic objectives, including the identification of partnership opportunities and the establishment of direct communication channels with Belgian companies and investors. The Federation recognises the importance of expanding the global footprint of Emirati enterprises whilst broadening their network of international relationships and collaborative ventures.

The delegation’s opening engagement centred on the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Brussels, where officials and business representatives explored mutual opportunities across sectors of shared interest. Discussions emphasised the facilitation of information exchange, entrepreneurial engagement and the development of joint ventures between companies from both nations.

A significant achievement of the visit was the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Belgian Chambers at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Brussels. The accord establishes institutional cooperation frameworks, deepens engagement between business communities, and creates mechanisms for supporting joint delegations, missions and economic events.

Mr Al Owais underscored the importance of the mission as a catalyst for economic expansion. He highlighted the pivotal role chambers of commerce play in connecting business communities and transforming commercial opportunities into sustainable, mutually beneficial partnerships.

The delegation’s second phase included a detailed visit to the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, one of Europe’s principal maritime gateways. The tour provided insights into operational excellence, integrated logistics services and best practices in port management and supply chain efficiency. The exchange aimed to facilitate knowledge transfer and identify collaboration opportunities across transport, trade and logistics sectors, whilst exploring how Belgium’s international trade experience might benefit Emirati enterprises.
