UAE Condemns Attack on World Food Programme Convoy in Sudan

The Emirates has issued a strong statement following an aerial attack on humanitarian vehicles in South Kordofan, reaffirming its commitment to protecting aid workers and facilitating urgent relief access.
The United Arab Emirates has issued a formal condemnation of an aerial attack targeting two trucks contracted by the World Food Programme that were transporting essential food supplies in Sudan’s South Kordofan State. The incident, which occurred whilst the vehicles were travelling between Dilling and Kadugli, resulted in the loss of one driver’s life.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has underscored the critical importance of safeguarding humanitarian and relief personnel operating in conflict zones. In its statement, the ministry emphasised that humanitarian assistance represents a universal right that must remain free from political manipulation or weaponisation for strategic purposes.
The Emirates has reiterated its unwavering position on the Sudan situation, calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities and an unconditional humanitarian truce to enable vulnerable populations to access life-saving aid. The nation has emphasised the necessity for rapid and unobstructed humanitarian access throughout the affected regions.
The UAE has further stressed the importance of establishing a credible transition process underpinned by inclusive civilian governance, firmly independent of both warring factions and extremist organisations. This principled stance reflects the Emirates’ broader commitment to supporting legitimate peacebuilding initiatives and inclusive political solutions.
The Ministry has reaffirmed the nation’s steadfast support for peace efforts in Sudan and has called for intensified collaborative action amongst the international community to alleviate human suffering. The statement underscores the UAE’s commitment to working alongside regional and international partners to support the Sudanese people’s aspirations for lasting security, stability and prosperity.
