UAE Financial Leadership Lauded at International Monetary Fund and World Bank Summit

The Central Bank of the UAE has strengthened strategic partnerships with global financial institutions during the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok, with international officials commending the nation's financial system as a model of stability and resilience.
The Central Bank of the UAE has reinforced its standing within the global financial community through a series of strategic bilateral engagements during the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, held in Bangkok from 12th to 18th October. These deliberations have underscored the UAE’s emergence as a beacon of financial prudence and institutional excellence within the international monetary system.
The CBUAE’s bilateral meetings with the Bank of Korea and the Monetary Authority of Singapore have facilitated substantive discussions on enhancing financial sector cooperation, exchanging expertise on matters of shared significance and exploring opportunities to deepen bilateral partnerships. These engagements reflect a broader commitment to expanding cooperation with international partners, strengthening coordination mechanisms and fostering knowledge exchange to support financial sector development and consolidate relationships with leading global financial institutions.
International financial and regulatory officials have accorded considerable praise to the UAE’s financial system, describing it as a particularly successful model for promoting stability, resilience and adaptation to the rapidly evolving contours of the global financial landscape. These commendations emerged during panel discussions held as part of the Annual Meetings, where participants examined approaches to constructing resilient financial systems amid contemporary global challenges and strengthening institutional capacity to address emerging vulnerabilities.
A session examining the building of resilient financial systems in a fragmenting world explored the mounting pressures confronting financial supervisors as technological innovation, cyber threats, geopolitical fragmentation and climate-related vulnerabilities reshape international financial architecture. Participants emphasised the imperative of transitioning from reactive responses to known risks towards proactive anticipation of emerging vulnerabilities, advocating for data-driven supervisory approaches and enhanced cross-border cooperation.
Sophie Sirtaine, Global Director of Financial Services at the World Bank Group, commended the UAE’s efforts to develop its financial sector and construct resilient systems that promote stability. Stefan Ingves, Chair of Toronto Centre and former Governor of Sveriges Riksbank, similarly praised the quality of the UAE’s financial frameworks, characterising the nation’s experience as an exemplary model for developing supervisory architecture and strengthening financial sector resilience.
Complementary discussions addressed the implications of rapid advances in artificial intelligence for cybersecurity and financial stability, with participants reviewing perspectives from international institutions, the private sector and policymakers on responses required to harness technological potential whilst mitigating risks to financial systems and economies. Further sessions explored mechanisms for strengthening public-private partnerships in healthcare systems and the transformative potential of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in healthcare delivery.
