UAE Horse Racing Authority Launches New Season with 41 Horses at Meydan Trial Race

The UAE Horse Racing Authority has inaugurated the 2026-2027 season with a successful inaugural trial race featuring 41 purebred Arabian horses across seven races at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai.

The UAE Horse Racing Authority has announced the successful launch of the 2026-2027 racing season with the participation of 41 purebred Arabian horses in seven races at the first trial race of the year, held at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai. The races were contested over a distance of 1,000 metres on the evening of 30th September, 2026.

The inaugural trial race demonstrated considerable promise for the new season, with 37 horses making their racing debuts whilst four competitors brought prior race experience to the competition. This inaugural event underscores the essential role that trial races play in the racing calendar, providing crucial opportunities for equine athletes to demonstrate their readiness and capabilities.

Rashid Al Balushi, a member of the Stewards Committee at the UAE Horse Racing Authority, highlighted the significance of the occasion. He emphasised that the strong turnout and notable performances of the evening confirmed the considerable value of trial races in preparing horses for competitive racing. The success achieved, he noted, reflected the constructive collaboration between owners, trainers and jockeys—partnerships essential to maintaining the integrity and excellence of the sport.

Mr Al Balushi further affirmed that the UAE racing system continues to uphold the highest international standards, positioning the Emirates as a leading jurisdiction for equestrian sport. The positive response from all stakeholders demonstrates continued commitment to advancing the sport within the region.
