UAE Public Prosecution and Human Rights Institution Strengthen Justice Partnership
Senior officials convene to advance cooperation on human rights protection and rule of law initiatives
Counsellor Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, Attorney-General of the United Arab Emirates, has met with Salem Suhail Al Neyadi, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Institution, to forge deeper institutional collaboration in advancing human rights protections and the administration of justice.
The discussion centred on identifying substantive opportunities to develop the working relationship between the two bodies, with particular emphasis on strengthening human rights safeguards whilst reinforcing the integrity of judicial processes. Both parties underscored their commitment to operating within their respective legally defined mandates whilst maintaining the independence essential to their distinct institutional functions.
A significant focus of the meeting involved establishing robust channels for coordination and knowledge-sharing across legal and human rights disciplines. The officials recognised that effective institutional dialogue supports professional development, enhances awareness of legally guaranteed rights, and ensures that practitioners across the justice system maintain the highest standards of practice.
The two sides identified several promising areas for collaborative development, including joint training programmes, coordinated awareness campaigns, and the commissioning of specialised research into criminal justice system operations. Such initiatives promise to deepen expertise whilst promoting consistency in the application of protective measures throughout the judicial framework.
Both officials reaffirmed the fundamental importance of sustained coordination in safeguarding human rights and strengthening the rule of law. They emphasised that an integrated justice system must successfully reconcile the requirements of effective law enforcement with the protection of individual rights, thereby serving both security imperatives and fundamental human dignity. This balance, they stressed, must always remain grounded in applicable legislation and recognised international standards.
