UAE Reaffirms Commitment to Sudan Peace Initiatives at Geneva Consultative Meeting

Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, participated in the sixth Consultative Meeting on Enhancing Coordination of Peace Initiatives and Efforts in Sudan, which convened in Geneva, Switzerland, on Wednesday, underscoring the United Arab Emirates’ steadfast commitment to supporting regional and international endeavours towards securing lasting peace and stability in the nation.
The Minister’s participation reflected the UAE’s dedication to advancing an immediate and unconditional humanitarian truce, followed by a permanent ceasefire, and to supporting a transitional process that would establish a civilian government independent of warring parties and extremist groups. This approach aligns with the profound aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, stability and the restoration of civil society.
Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan emphasised the paramount importance of strengthening coordination and cooperation amongst regional and international partners, endeavouring to unify efforts aimed at bringing the conflict to an end and addressing the humanitarian catastrophe through the provision of urgent relief assistance. He stressed the necessity of ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need throughout the nation.
In reaffirming the UAE’s unwavering support for all efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in Sudan, the Minister underscored the critical need to reach a peaceful and sustainable political solution that genuinely fulfils the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, stability and a dignified life.
