UAE Tourism Sector Surges with Integrated Strategy Spanning All Seven Emirates

The UAE's tourism industry continues its robust expansion, generating AED251.3 billion in 2025 while advancing sustainable practices and unified destination marketing across the nation.

The United Arab Emirates has solidified its standing as a premier global tourism destination, delivering an increasingly sophisticated array of cultural, leisure, nature-based and hospitality experiences. This achievement is underpinned by exceptional infrastructure, extensive air connectivity and coordinated tourism offerings spanning all seven emirates.

The sector’s economic contribution reached approximately AED251.3 billion in 2025, representing a three percent increase from the previous year and more than 22 percent growth since 2019. International visitor spending alone contributed nearly AED209 billion to the national economy during this period.

Recognising the importance of balancing growth with stewardship, the UAE adopted its National Ecotourism Policy during 2026. This comprehensive framework aims to harmonise economic development with ecosystem and natural resource conservation, whilst celebrating the nation’s cultural and natural heritage. The country now maintains 55 nature reserves, with approximately 4,900 hectares of desert, mountain and beach environments restored to support responsible tourism experiences.

A significant milestone emerged through the introduction of the unified ‘Visit UAE’ identity, consolidating the distinctive attractions of each emirate under a single, cohesive national brand. The Ministry of Economy and Tourism complemented this initiative by launching the ‘UAE Grand Tour’ platform, presenting itineraries spanning up to 14 days across all seven emirates. This encourages extended stays and integrated travel experiences for international visitors.

Individual emirates have pursued targeted promotional strategies. Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism introduced ‘A Dubai Invite’, enabling residents to introduce family and friends to the city through an exclusive benefits programme running until 31st October 2026. Simultaneously, the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry activated the ‘RAK Ambassador’ initiative, engaging citizens and residents in promoting their emirate as both an investment and tourism destination.

Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism launched ‘Hayyakum’, a summer campaign featuring Yas Island’s theme parks, cultural experiences at Saadiyat Cultural District museums, and family-oriented activities. The department also introduced ‘Cultural Trails in Al Ain’, a 1.4-kilometre interactive route through the historic Al Jimi and Al Qattara oases, showcasing the city’s cultural character through 31st December.

Hotel establishments welcomed 32.34 million guests during 2025, a 5.2 percent increase from 30.75 million the previous year, whilst guest nights exceeded 110.62 million. Hotel revenues rose 9.7 percent to approximately AED49.21 billion across more than 1,240 establishments offering around 217,000 rooms.

The domestic tourism market demonstrated particular resilience, with the sixth edition of the World’s Coolest Winter campaign generating AED12.5 billion in hotel revenues and attracting approximately five million hotel guests—a five percent rise from the previous edition, with occupancy reaching 84 percent.

Aviation infrastructure remains fundamental to this success. Passenger traffic through UAE airports reached 156.8 million in 2025, up 6.1 percent annually, whilst aircraft movements increased 6.8 percent to approximately 855,300. Dubai International Airport maintained its position as the world’s busiest airport for international passenger traffic, handling 95.2 million passengers during the year.

These achievements support the National Tourism Strategy 2031, which targets raising the sector’s GDP contribution to AED450 billion, attracting AED100 billion in new tourism investment and welcoming 40 million hotel guests annually.
