UAE Youth Ambassadors undertake immersive field research programme across Shanghai

Nineteen students from the prestigious UAE Youth Ambassadors Programme have completed an enriching three-day research initiative in China, exploring governance, traditional medicine and industrial partnerships whilst developing their capabilities as cultural envoys.
The Office of Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs at the Presidential Court continues to advance its visionary UAE Youth Ambassadors Programme, cultivating the talents of promising young Emiratis destined to represent their nation on the global stage. This distinguished initiative provides participants with comprehensive field experiences, cultural immersion, specialised training workshops and transformative educational opportunities designed to forge internationally minded leaders.
Nineteen exceptional students recently participated in an immersive three-day field research programme conducted across Shanghai from 25th to 27th September, delivered through partnerships with esteemed Chinese institutions. The experience was meticulously structured to strengthen the capabilities of young Emiratis whilst directing attention towards sectors of strategic national importance for the United Arab Emirates.
Nawal Al Marzouqi, Director of the UAE Youth Ambassadors Programme at the Office of Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, reflected upon the initiative’s significance: “Through the UAE Youth Ambassadors Programme, we empower young Emiratis to serve as a bridge between the UAE and the international community, and to contribute positively to presenting the UAE and its leadership as a pioneering global model. This reflects the vision of our wise leadership to build a generation that is firmly rooted in national values, equipped with the skills, knowledge and cultural awareness needed to share the UAE’s exceptional story with peoples and communities around the world.”
The programme encompassed three distinct research tracks, namely public governance, traditional Chinese medicine, and industrial cooperation between the UAE and China. Students were strategically divided into research groups to undertake field investigations at prestigious Chinese academic institutions, healthcare facilities, industrial enterprises and community organisations in Shanghai, with particular emphasis on companies maintaining investment and industrial partnerships with the United Arab Emirates.
The comprehensive agenda featured an array of sophisticated workshops and studio sessions encompassing innovation and design thinking, media communication and photography, field preparation methodologies, research review and editing techniques, video production, and presentation development. Participants gained firsthand experience at the Memorial of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Kangjian Community Service Centre, the Institute of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine at Fudan University, the Cai Tong De Tang traditional Chinese medicine clinic and pharmacy, the Kangma-Healthcode protein production facility, and the ROX Motor electric vehicle centre.
The programme culminated in formal research presentations and screenings of original student documentaries evaluated by an esteemed joint Emirati-Chinese panel comprising academic and economic specialists. China Daily served as educational and editorial partner, with accomplished mentors guiding participants from initial preparation through final production, delivering specialised documentary filmmaking workshops to develop proficiency in crafting compelling short films that authentically convey the nation’s narrative across vital sectors.
