UAEV and Dubai World Trade Centre forge partnership to advance electric vehicle charging infrastructure

A collaborative initiative between UAEV and Dubai World Trade Centre will establish comprehensive EV charging facilities across prominent business and exhibition venues, advancing the emirate's commitment to sustainable mobility.
The United Arab Emirates Authority for Vehicle Registration, in partnership with Dubai World Trade Centre, has undertaken an ambitious initiative to substantially expand access to electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the emirate’s most significant business and exhibition destinations. The agreement, formalised during the WETEX conference, represents a meaningful commitment to facilitating the adoption of sustainable mobility solutions amongst both individual drivers and commercial fleet operators.
The collaborative framework will establish charging facilities within designated parking areas at both Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Exhibition Centre, venues that attract considerable numbers of professionals, exhibitors and visitors throughout the year. By seamlessly integrating these amenities into existing parking infrastructure, the initiative endeavours to render charging capabilities readily accessible to those attending exhibitions, conferences and business events, thereby removing practical barriers to electric vehicle adoption.
The initial phase of deployment will encompass four strategic locations within Dubai World Trade Centre, establishing a robust foundation within one of Dubai’s most vibrant commercial and exhibition hubs. This measured approach ensures that charging infrastructure is positioned precisely where demand is greatest, serving the diverse requirements of individual drivers alongside the operational needs of established commercial enterprises.
Ali Al Darwish, Acting Chief Executive Officer of UAEV, articulated the significance of this partnership: “Access to charging remains a principal consideration for those evaluating the transition to electric vehicles. Our collaboration with Dubai World Trade Centre will place charging facilities within destinations where drivers already conduct their professional and commercial activities, rendering the charging experience seamlessly integrated into their everyday routines.”
He further emphasised that the expansion of UAEV’s charging network reflects a strategic commitment to positioning charging infrastructure within locations serving diverse user communities, thereby addressing both individual driver requirements and the distinctive operational needs of commercial fleet operators, whilst advancing the broader national transition towards sustainable mobility solutions.
Abdulrahman Obaid Abu Al Shawareb, Executive Vice President of Protocol and Security at Dubai World Trade Centre, observed that the partnership exemplifies the venue’s dedication to enhancing its infrastructure in alignment with Dubai’s ambitious vision for a forward-thinking, environmentally conscious urban environment. The collaboration will progressively expand charging facilities across the destination’s premises, enriching the visitor experience through enhanced convenience and accessibility whilst promoting the wider adoption of sustainable mobility practices throughout the emirate.
