Sheikh Khalifa Hospitals Achieve Prestigious ANCC Excellence Designation

All three Sheikh Khalifa Hospitals have received the American Nurses Credentialing Centre Pathway to Excellence designation with Distinction, placing them among the world's top 10% of recognised institutions.
The Medical Office, a subsidiary of PureHealth, the largest healthcare group in the Middle East, has announced a significant achievement across its Sheikh Khalifa Hospitals network. All three facilities—Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital in Umm Al Qaiwain, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Ajman, and Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah—have received the prestigious American Nurses Credentialing Centre (ANCC) Pathway to Excellence designation with Distinction.
This recognition acknowledges the hospitals’ creation of positive professional practice environments for nursing staff and their unwavering commitment to safe, high-quality patient care. The ANCC has distinguished all three institutions among the world’s top 10% of Pathway to Excellence-designated organisations, representing a remarkable achievement and a defining milestone for the network.
The designation reflects the sustained dedication and professionalism of nursing teams across the Sheikh Khalifa Hospitals, demonstrated through their focus on nursing excellence, staff engagement, professional development, staff wellbeing and the delivery of exceptional patient care. The accomplishment represents the completion of a strategic priority set by TMO Nursing Affairs over three years ago, during which the organisation worked collaboratively with hospital leadership and nursing teams to strengthen nursing governance, shared decision-making, wellbeing and professional practice across the network. The initiative has touched the work of 1,200 nurses at the three hospitals, exemplifying the programme’s substantial scale.
Dr. Aref Al Shehhi, Chief Executive Officer of The Medical Office, commented on the achievement: “Achieving the ANCC Pathway to Excellence designation with Distinction across all three Sheikh Khalifa Hospitals reflects the dedication and professionalism of our nursing teams and the strong culture of collaboration across the network. Creating professional environments where nurses are supported to excel is central to healthcare quality and patient safety and helps us continue delivering safe, compassionate and high-quality care to the communities we serve.”
Dr. Salah Aqtash, Chief Nursing Officer at The Medical Office, emphasised the significance of the recognition: “Achieving this designation with Distinction marks the successful delivery of a strategic priority for TMO Nursing Affairs and reflects the nursing excellence embedded across the Sheikh Khalifa Hospitals. Ensuring nurses are supported to develop professionally, contribute to decision-making and deliver to the highest standards is fundamental to safe, high-quality patient care.”
Moving forward, The Medical Office remains committed to advancing initiatives that support excellence in patient care whilst contributing to the UAE’s strategic priorities for world-class healthcare, workforce capability development, patient safety and exceptional care delivery.
