Umar Nurmagomedov makes his Real American Freestyle debut against legendary bantamweight Urijah Faber as Etihad Arena prepares to host a card headlined by global superstar Khamzat Chimaev
Abu Dhabi’s prominent position on the international combat sports calendar continues to flourish with the announcement of an impressive lineup for RAF Abu Dhabi on Saturday, 14th November at Etihad Arena on Yas Island.
The centrepiece of the evening will feature global combat sports sensation Khamzat Chimaev defending the RAF Cruiserweight Crossover title against American challenger Colby Covington in what promises to be a compelling contest between two formidable competitors.
In a significant development for the bantamweight division, Umar Nurmagomedov will make his Real American Freestyle debut, stepping into the octagon against Urijah Faber, one of the sport’s most distinguished and accomplished veterans. Nurmagomedov, a native of Dagestan and member of the renowned Nurmagomedov family, brings an exceptional record of seven submission victories alongside his formidable wrestling and grappling credentials to this highly anticipated matchup.
Faber, affectionately known as “The California Kid”, returns for his third appearance on an RAF card, bringing his considerable championship pedigree and experience as founder of the celebrated Team Alpha Male to his encounter with the rising bantamweight talent.
The card will also showcase reigning RAF Light Heavyweight Champion Kyle Snyder in a title defence against Shamil Erdogan. Snyder, who holds the distinction of becoming the youngest American to achieve a senior world wrestling title, has demonstrated remarkable form over the preceding six months, successfully defeating four fellow Olympic medallists en route to claiming and defending his RAF Light Heavyweight championship.
Erdogan, a Dagestan-born Turkish athlete with an accomplished freestyle wrestling background and an unblemished professional MMA record, will make his RAF debut on this prestigious Abu Dhabi platform, presenting a significant opportunity to establish himself on the international stage.
