Sharjah Islamic Bank Reports Robust Nine-Month Performance with AED 1.2 Billion Net Profit

The emirate's leading Islamic financial institution has delivered impressive results for the first nine months of 2026, demonstrating sustained profitability and strategic capital strengthening amid dynamic market conditions.

Sharjah Islamic Bank has announced a commanding financial performance for the first nine months of 2026, recording a net profit after tax of AED 1.2 billion, representing a nine per cent increase from the AED 1.1 billion achieved during the corresponding period of 2025. This substantial growth underscores the resilience of the institution’s business model and its capacity to sustain profitable expansion despite the complexities of the contemporary global economic landscape.

The Bank’s financial trajectory has been substantially propelled by the expansion of its core Islamic financing and investment activities. Income derived from Islamic financing and Sukuk investments ascended to AED 3.2 billion, reflecting an impressive elevation of 11.7 per cent compared with the AED 2.9 billion recorded in the equivalent 2025 period. This expansion demonstrates the continuing appeal of the Bank’s sophisticated financing solutions amongst its diverse clientele spanning retail, corporate and institutional segments.

Total operating income achieved a notable milestone of AED 2.1 billion, an increase of 13.6 per cent from the prior year, reflecting the broadening of the institution’s revenue foundations across multiple banking disciplines and economic sectors. The Bank’s total assets have expanded substantially to AED 100 billion at the close of the third quarter, an augmentation of 10.4 per cent from AED 90.3 billion at the conclusion of 2025, propelled principally by the expansion of its Islamic financing portfolio to AED 54.1 billion.

Demonstrating its confidence in future prospects and strategic direction, the Bank completed a comprehensive capital increase during the second quarter of 2026 through a rights issue, issuing 1.1 billion shares at a nominal value of AED 1 per share complemented by an issue premium of AED 1.40 per share. This capital strengthening initiative elevated shareholders’ equity to AED 12.4 billion whilst enhancing the capital adequacy ratio from 16.17 per cent to 19.37 per cent, positioning the institution to sustain growth and execute its strategic priorities with considerable financial flexibility.

The Bank has maintained rigorous attention to operational excellence whilst directing strategic investments towards human capital development, digital and technology infrastructure, and enhanced customer experience. The cost-to-income ratio has improved to 34.7 per cent, reflecting the institution’s ability to generate revenue growth at a faster trajectory than its cost base expansion. Customer deposits have grown to AED 60.4 billion, an increase of 8.4 per cent, affirming the strength of the Bank’s deposit franchise and its capacity to attract stable funding sources that underpin its expansion.
