TRENDS Research Institute Advances AI Literacy Through Educational Workshop and Strategic Partnership

TRENDS Research & Advisory has organised a significant workshop on artificial intelligence literacy at Ai Everything Abu Dhabi, whilst establishing a collaborative partnership with the Abu Dhabi Agricultural Club to expand research and knowledge initiatives.

TRENDS Research & Advisory, an affiliate of TRENDS Group, has organised a substantive workshop addressing the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence during its participation in Ai Everything Abu Dhabi, the two-day conference held at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. The initiative reflects a commitment to fostering informed engagement with transformative technologies across the emirate.

Delivered in collaboration with the UAE Public Prosecution, the workshop was titled “From Awareness to Readiness: Towards an Empowered AI Generation” and was presented by Issa Ali Al-Mannai, an AI researcher at TRENDS. The programme examined the profound changes brought about by artificial intelligence within education and employment sectors, emphasising the necessity of equipping young people with the skills to engage with these technologies thoughtfully and responsibly.

Mr Al-Mannai highlighted the fundamental limitations inherent in AI systems and their operational mechanisms, underscoring the importance of understanding how intelligent systems can influence user decision-making and daily life. The workshop examined several critical considerations, including the capacity of certain AI systems to generate confidently incorrect outputs, necessitating careful verification before implementation. Participants explored how training data patterns influence system outputs, including potential biases and confirmation bias effects.

Particular attention was given to linguistic and contextual dimensions of artificial intelligence, notably the challenges surrounding contextual image interpretation and the precision of AI systems when processing Arabic language content and local cultural contexts. The workshop emphasised the imperative of cultivating critical awareness amongst users when engaging with these technologies.

The educational component concluded by stressing the importance of progressing young people from foundational awareness of artificial intelligence toward practical capability and effective application across diverse sectors and disciplines.

Beyond the workshop, TRENDS and the Abu Dhabi Agricultural Club have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation in research, studies and advisory services. This partnership encompasses the exchange of expertise and knowledge, joint organisation of events and conferences, and collaborative development of research initiatives.

The cooperation framework encompasses specialised research and studies, knowledge surveys, expert and researcher exchanges, and collaborative training programmes. Both institutions have committed to supporting related research initiatives whilst remaining open to cooperation in additional areas of mutual benefit, thereby expanding the scope and depth of their knowledge partnership.

TRENDS maintains an exhibition presence at Ai Everything Abu Dhabi featuring a knowledge pavilion with research content, interactive artificial intelligence experiences and publications examining technological and digital transformation. This participation reflects TRENDS’ commitment to examining the implications of artificial intelligence and fostering knowledge-based dialogue on both opportunities and challenges posed by these technologies, particularly within education, employment, justice and decision-making contexts.
