UAE Demonstrated as Premier Venue for International Congress on Occupational Health 2033

The President of the International Commission on Occupational Health has affirmed the Emirates' exceptional capabilities to host the prestigious 2033 congress, following a comprehensive review of the nation's world-class facilities and institutional frameworks.
Professor Seong Kyu Kang, President of the International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH), has reaffirmed the United Arab Emirates’ readiness to host one of the world’s most esteemed gatherings on workplace health and safety. His assessment, delivered following an official visit to Abu Dhabi, recognised the nation’s advanced infrastructure, robust governmental backing, and resolute dedication to fostering health and wellbeing across all economic sectors.
The high-level visit, undertaken to evaluate the UAE’s pioneering achievements in occupational health and social inclusion, formed the culminating phase of the Emirates’ formal candidature for ICOH 2033. Throughout his engagement, Professor Kang visited several flagship institutions exemplifying the nation’s commitment to excellence in health and workplace standards.
At the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination, the delegation reviewed specialised vocational and rehabilitation facilities that empower individuals whilst facilitating their meaningful participation in the workforce. The ICOH President commended the Organisation’s integrated approach, noting its alignment with international best practices comparable to leading global standards.
A subsequent visit to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company revealed ADNOC’s comprehensive occupational health framework and employee wellbeing initiatives. Professor Kang highlighted the company’s occupational health and safety standards as exemplary of international excellence, reflecting its steadfast commitment to workforce protection.
The final destination, the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, showcased sophisticated emergency preparedness infrastructure and surveillance technologies. The Centre’s advanced operational systems impressed the delegation, demonstrating the Emirates’ visionary approach to public health resilience and innovation.
Throughout the programme, institutional representatives reinforced their endorsement of the UAE’s bid, expressing confidence in the nation’s capacity to deliver a world-class congress that would enhance its international standing in occupational health and workplace safety.
In his closing remarks, Professor Kang expressed sincere appreciation for the UAE’s remarkable progress in advancing occupational health standards and quality of life, characterising the institutional excellence he witnessed as exceeding expectations and reflecting the nation’s visionary leadership.
