UAE Foreign Minister Meets Bangladesh Prime Minister at UN General Assembly
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan reaffirms commitment to strengthening bilateral relations during diplomatic engagement in New York
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held substantive discussions with Tarique Rahman, Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on 26th September, 2026.
The bilateral meeting provided an opportunity for both nations to review the current trajectory of their relations and identify promising avenues for expanded cooperation. The conversation encompassed strategic priorities aligned with the mutual interests of the UAE and Bangladesh, with particular emphasis on fostering development and generating economic prosperity across both countries.
The Foreign Minister underscored the UAE’s unwavering commitment to deepening its partnership with Bangladesh, emphasising the potential for collaborative initiatives that would benefit both nations. The two sides engaged in a comprehensive exchange of perspectives on matters featured prominently in the UN General Assembly’s agenda, whilst also addressing contemporary regional and international developments of shared concern.
The diplomatic engagement reflected the broader framework of engagement between Gulf Cooperation Council nations and South Asian partners, reinforcing the UAE’s dedication to fostering meaningful relationships with key international actors. Such high-level interactions serve to strengthen mutual understanding and identify concrete opportunities for enhanced economic, cultural and developmental cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, underscoring the multifaceted nature of UAE-Bangladesh relations and the breadth of departmental engagement in advancing bilateral interests.
